There should never be a compelling reason for a good party - at least, that's the belief of my maternal cousins and me! Which was why we decided to throw a little bash at my place's function room last Sunday for 3 main reasons: 1) A fantastic chance for all the cousins, uncles and aunties to get together, 2) for the kids to have great fun and 3) simply to be happy!

So, the 3 of us, Irene, Fio and me, got together and rented a bouncer and an automatic train on track, and I threw in the Bees' electric car, and voila! We had something that resembled a mini amusement park that could distract the little ones so that we adults can relax! (Although in the end, the kids became so wild on the bouncer that all we cousins could do were to stand around the bouncer and guard them!) But we were really happy to see the uncles and aunties happily chatting away, with my mum uttering to me, "The night passed by too quickly!" Happiness indeed!
A party should always have 3 quintessential ingredients: 1) Great company, 2) wonderful programme and 3) fabulous food! I think we fulfilled the first 2, and we spurred our mothers to create a huge potluck session so we can be treated to sumptuous delicacies! And indeed, we had no lack of good food - succulent fried bee hoon, ambrosial yam rice, delectable yam cake, mouthwatering chicken curry, fragrant nuggets and a whole array of magnificant snacks and desserts! It was a sight to behold as the food slowly took up 2 whole tables, just like a buffet spread - only that this time, the food was prepared with love, hard work and lots of care!
The kids truly enjoyed themselves, turning quite delirious at some points, all happy beyond words. We hope to organise more of these great parties in future so that the kids - themselves cousins - can grow up like the great buddies that we are, and the aunties and uncles can sit back and look at their grandchildren with beaming joy.
The Bees with Val just after the bouncer was set up - highly elated!
Giddy enjoyment: Bees with cousins Peixuan, Ting Ting and Zhong Ting
Cute little Val and Chloe jumping away in the bouncer!
