Travel Memoirs: Cherry Blossoms in China

I was in China for a work trip 2 weeks ago, and went on a whirlwind schedule in 4 cities - Beijing, Shanghai, Suzhou and Nanjing. This was the season of spring, and I was enveloped by sights of exquisite cherry blossoms, alluring spring flowers and fields of golden yellow blossoms, almost as if the sun had decided to multiply its billion offsprings on the jade-green meadows.

The cherry blossoms were enchanting - they were ubiquitous, even in the urban city of Shanghai. They burgeoned in blooms of snowy-white, clusters of brilliant fuchsia pink and flourishing in gentle pastel pink. Magnificent indeed.

Other flowering plants preened with floral bursts of delightful yellow, luxuriant purple, mysterious lavender and resplendent red. Truly breathtaking.

I had missed the family badly this time (as this was my first trip after a whole luxurious quarter of no travels, staying grounded in Singapore). However, the sight of these delicate blossoms imbued me with inspiration, awe and amazement - encouraging me to snap photos as if I was an over-zealous tourist, so that my Bees could revel in the glorious rejuvenation of spring.

This was the view when I stepped out an office after a meeting. Divine poetic beauty.

There was a period of time in my career I need to travel to Wuxi for 2 weeks every month. Honestly I love working there because I have nice bunch of colleages and the surrounding is heartbreaking. Then of course there is always something I hate. To travel to Wuxi it always too me more than 2.5 hours ride from Shanghai. There was once I caught in 5 hours jam and almost miss my flight back home!

Wow.. I am envious of the opportunity to watch such breathtaking scenes. When I used to travel frequently for work, it was always to big concrete jungle. My schedule would be so packed that it made it impossible for me to venture out to appreciate the Nature.

Sunflower: Yes, not easy to travel to Wuxi from Shanghai, although from the development of the bullet trains, should be a breeze in future! It took me only 1 hour and 15 min to travel to Nanjing from Shanghai by their bullet train, of which standards of hygiene and cleanliness are comparable to Japan's trains! Impressive.

Shirley: Yes, I usually go to big concrete jungles for work too, which I hate. But this time, by nature of my work, I was lucky to have meetings in places near lakes and ponds (although still in the heart of their city centres). It is heartening to see nature all around concrete China.
