Wow! Your Chinese standard is just as high! How long did it take you to type all these words? :P

I always find it a chore to type Chinese, having to go through the list to search for the right Chinese characters one by one, despite the fact that I am fast with my HYPY. Is there a shortcut that I am unaware of?

Great effort and I'm sure she loves the game

Shirley: Thanks! I agree with you that typing Chinese is more time-consuming than English. It is not as intuitive as the English language as well. This took me 30 minutes to write, when it should be 15 minutes if it is in English :P

Yes, there is a shortcut. Just lump all the Chinese HYPY together, and the "right" words will come on! It is much faster that way instead of typing word for word too! Eg if you want to type 我想睡觉了, just type in one go "woxiangshuijiaole". This is a tip from a PRC Chinese when I asked her why Chinese can type so fast on their keyboards! Makes a world of difference with this method!

viv: Thanks, babe! Yes, she loves the game, but of course, with drama her, I need to make it really dramatic and rara, else she will be easily distracted as usual!

Hi,

Are you aware of this series of books? Total 7 books and excellent, cost me about $30. could recognise 500 words. These come with flash cards at the back of the books.

I bought it from dangdang website. It is available in popular and some other book store.

Hi Anonymous (are you Pauline? Would be nice to know your name otherwise!): Yes, in my recent work trip to Beijing last week, I lugged back this entire set of 四五快读 from Wangfujing Bookstore :) This is the same keyword concept as the Peter and Jane series which I am reading with Little Bee right now, and I do believe strongly in learning to read through keywords. Thanks for the recommendation, nevertheless! :)

Hi,

That is great.

I used the cards to teach my 2.5yo to recognise words but she does not enjoy it. She learns through reading stories especially rhymes and singing.

She likes it a lot.

My 4.5yo son use this set of chinese readers since couple of weeks ago. Doing well.

You may call me CC.

I chance upon your blog from other mom's blog. You really have a flair in writing, be it English or Chinese. Sometimes I even need to resort to the dictionary to find the meaning of the word you use. I enjoy reading your recent posts so far. I can't wait to read the rest of your postings from day 1 to get some inspirational ideas of spending quality time with my gals!

P.S.: Thanks for sharing your method of teaching Chinese.

CC: Thanks for the tips on 四五快读, I should be starting to go through the words with Little Bee this month!

Yellowgiraffe: 对不起,那么迟才回复你!你真的太过奖了啦!我一方面也对这些学习方式有很大的兴趣,也觉得应该加强培养下一代的华文能力!

Domesticgoddess: You're most welcome, Shirley!

Zoe: Thanks for dropping by my blog! If you have a blog, please do share - I learnt a lot about learning activities from other blogging mums here as well! Hope to hear from you again!

Nope I do not have a blog. I don't enjoy writing. Most of the time I am a silent reader cos I thoroughly enjoy reading the parenting blogs that the moms share. I learn alot. Thank you to all the generous mummies for sharing their blogs. :)
